Lane changing compulsion

The word is.....

unsafe drivers

I was recently involved in what could have been a terrible accident on the 57 freeway. All because of one stupid driver, my friend and I were almost killed. On our way from a basketball tournament, my friend was driving in the fast lane when a car cut us off going about 80 miles an hour and forced us out of the lane. My friend swerved to avoid an accident, we slammed into the center divider.
As soon as the impact ocurred, we spun out into the other lanes right into oncoming traffic. After spinning twice, we stopped facing the oncoming cars and slightly turned counter-clockwise facing the east. My friend tried to recover, turning the wheel vigorously until we were safely posititioned on the shoulder. About five cars stopped to help us, while the car which caused the accident fled the scene.
After calling the CHP, we drove the car, on two rims with flat tires, off the freeway. About 10 minutes later, the car who caused had taken our lane pulled up behind us . She then proceeded to tell us that she saw the accident, felt bad for us and wanted to give us some money for our trouble.
I never believed her, I knew that she was the person who was the cause of the tragedy. She got out of the car and walked over to my friend and I and gave us a hug.
" I was once a young girl too," she said.
After giving us $100, which was shocking for a stranger, she got in her car and left.
I could not believe what had happened to us in a matter of 30 seconds, but I now have a fear of driving on the freeway as a result.
This woman was careless and only stopped because of the guilt she felt. A sore neck, two new tires and a diagnosis of whiplash later, I can only hope that guilt isn't all she's feeling.
I now have a new found idea of safety on the freeway. Not only do you have to worry about yourself driving, but also others around you. Be safe!!

I know what you mean. I'm scared every day that I drive the long distance to work. Just in the last week, I've almost been run off the road twice!
